D-Jones Weekly Update for 12/21/2009

Monday, December 21st, 2009

With 2009 coming to an end, it is time to reevaluate your wardrobe,

and set yourself apart for 2010.

Here are a few tips to note for the upcoming year.

First, pay attention to how other gentlemen’s suits fit.  You will be

surprised at how many suits do not actually fit well. But, when you do

come across someone who has a well-fitted suit or even a

custom-tailored suit, you will notice a huge difference. If you have

the opportunity to get a custom-tailored suit, and add it to your

wardrobe, I really would recommend you do so. Once you have had a

custom-tailored suit you will never go back to wearing an off-the-rack

suit.  The style and fit is amazing, and you will feel confident in

what you are wearing.

Find your own style, and then learn how to display that style in a

professional manner.  This is actually more difficult than you might

think.  Many times, when guys want to branch out, it’s a bit much, or

the combination of fabric and accessories don’t go well together.

Here are some great magazines and Web sites with great advice:

GQ Magazine or www.gq.com

Esquire Magazine or www.esquire.com

www.askmen.com

Men’s Health Magazine or www.menshealth.com

Lastly, pay attention to accessories.  Accessories can really

accentuate a suit if done properly. Just remember, less is more when

it comes to an interview.  Once you’re hired then you can express your

individual professionalism.

Remember, if you need any custom tailored apparel for the new year,

D-Jones Tailored Collection is here for you.

I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas, and a happy, safe and

successful New Year!

Weekly Fashion Tip for 12/14/09

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Gifts that should be on every man’s list this Christmas.

Here are some great gift ideas to help you express yourself individually for the up coming new year.

Lets start with the tie. The necktie can be the most expressive piece of cloth in a man’s wardrobe.  Consider pattern, and width. (The wider the tie, the bolder you look).

Now, let me touch back on the silk pocket square. This piece of fabric can bring color to a suit without the tie, or it can enhance the tie, shirt, or suit you are wearing.  Everyman should have one, and they are not too expensive.

Cuff links are a must for every gentleman.  They are worn with French cuff shirts, and they are a good accent that can add formality to any situation.

A fine watch can say as much about your status as your shoes.  So, having a fine time piece is a great idea to add to the wardrobe.

Wallet’s are for credit cards only- cash goes in a money clip in your front pocket.  A good wallet is not just a place to keep your stuff; it’s a source of personal satisfaction.  Also, if you are wearing a suit it is better to have a money clip anyway.  That way you won’t have lumps in you pockets of your suit.

Your eyes do need to be protected, so a good pair of sunglasses are always needed.  Yes, they are considered an essential weapon in UV protection, and it can lessen the smile lines around the eyes that come over time from squinting or smiling of course.  Plus, sunglasses are just cool to wear anyway.

For the colder month’s you might consider some gloves. Gloves are defiantly necessary whether you think so or not.  A great pair of dress gloves that are cashmere-lined with supple calf or deerskin are very comfortable, and great for keeping the hands warm.

Again, I must touch back on the scarf. There are some that think that scarves are not that big of a deal.  Well, they are!  Scarves, are a great accent to any outfit; especially, a suit that’s accompanied with an overcoat.  Scarves just look nice and they keep the chill from the neck area.  Hmmm, what a great idea.

A new black or brown belt that complements your shoes is always a great item to add to your wardrobe.  It is simple elegance when choosing a belt. Buckles the size of your wallet and over-the-top hand-tooling are best warn to a rodeo.  And, not wearing a belt at all is a big mistake.  Your not dressed without one.

Socks, socks, socks: Yes, it is hard to get excited about socks.  But a great pair of comfortable socks makes the feet feel great.  Your best choice for quality: merino wool in winter and pima cotton in summer.

I hope this help’s with your gift giving ideas.  If you have any more ideas that you think that might be helpful let me know.  Have a great week.

D-Jones Tip of the Week 12/7/09

Details that can set you apart:

Watches: Think of it a s a clear banner proclaiming your good taste, style, and success.  A watch is a great way to accentuate you and your clothing.

Ties: Your tie should always be perfectly knotted, with a single notch or dimple and with the pint sitting at the waistband.

Shoes: Elongated, slightly pointed classic Italian, British, or American shoes.

Quick Tips:

Match These items:

  • Watch, cuff links, belt buckle
  • Watch strap, shoes, belt
  • Pocket square with one minor color in your tie or shirt

Never Match These items:

  • Shirt and tie
  • Tie and pocket square
  • Socks and shoes
